WHO: Highschool Students 15-19 years old
WHAT: NewMu Teens is a five-month, stipend-supported, afterschool program for young people ages 15–19. Continuing the New Museum’s history of critically engaging teens, this program invites young people to interact with contemporary art and culture with a focus on the intersections of gender, race, class, and sexual orientation. Participating teens connect with peers, guest artists, and their own creativity through workshops, artmaking, and discussion. Collaboratively, NewMu Teens develop and produce a culminating creative project to share with their communities.
The program is free and NewMu Teens participants receive a stipend of $500 in support of their participation.

YOUTH SPECTRUM ARTS (PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students 15-19 years old
WHAT: This academic year, the New Museum will launch Youth Spectrum Arts (YSA): a stipend-supported, afterschool program for young people ages fifteen to nineteen. A new program building on the New Museum’s history of critically engaging youth, YSA engages young people with contemporary art and culture, with a focus on gender, sexuality, and queer and trans community. Through workshops, art making, and discussion, participating youth will connect with themselves, peers, and guest artists. The program will draw from the New Museum’s history of working with diverse artists whose art and activism has transformed culture within and beyond museum walls. Youth will be introduced to art that builds community, instigates change and new ways of thinking, provides space and methods for healing, raises challenging questions, and expresses diverse, complex experiences and points of view. YSA encourages young people to join the process of visioning and contributing to space in contemporary art and museums for themselves and others.

WHEN: Participants will meet every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. from November 24 to June 1 (excluding winter, midwinter, and spring school recesses). Select sessions will be 90 minutes, extending to 6:00 pm.

PODCAST JOURNALISM INTERNSHIP (PAID) Deadline: 11/03/24
WHO: Current NYC public or charter high school students
WHAT: Our programs train students in the fundamentals of audio journalism, including interviewing, script writing, recording, audio editing, and marketing. Interns receive mentorship from industry professionals and explore potential career paths in journalism and media. Most importantly, they report and produce stories for our Miseducation and P.S. Weekly podcasts.
Program dates and requirements:
Students must be available in person Tuesdays and Thursdays from approximately 4:15-6:15 p.m. from December through May.
The program meets at The Bell's office in lower Manhattan.
Interns should expect to do an additional 1-2 hours of work each week outside of meeting times.

THE TISCH SPRING FUTURE ARTISTS PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students in 9-11 grade
WHAT: The Tisch Spring Future Artists Program is a pre-college program that is FREE of charge, open to all eligible students, and centered on educational opportunities in studying in the arts with the same rigor and training offered in the undergraduate departments. It is designed for students who may not have access to other programs in their schools and/or communities and who would qualify for financial aid at NYU. This program is open to all interested first-years, sophomores, and juniors in high school. Students of all backgrounds are eligible for participation in this program; those from groups traditionally underrepresented in the media industry are encouraged to apply.
WHERE: Broadway Block, 721 Broadway, New York, NY 10003
WHEN: Students MUST commit to attending all of the classes during the 14-week program on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET (hours vary by department but will fall within this time) from February 1, 2025 - May 10, 2025 and is taught by faculty from the undergraduate departments. You must be available on those dates and times for the entire duration of the program. Students who miss class for any reason may be dismissed from the program.

FELLOWS FOR ITS EMERGING LEADERS (PAID)
WHO: High School students 15-18 who attend school or live in the Chelsea, Meatpacking District, or Hell’s Kitchen neighborhoods are invited to apply
WHAT: Friends of the High Line is accepting applications for its next class of Fellows for its Emerging Leaders, a paid fellowship for high school students who attend school near the High Line or who live in the surrounding community. There are four pathways: Arts & Culture; Civic Engagement; Horticulture; and Park & Visitor Experience. Fellows are offered up to 200 hours of paid work a year ($15/hr), building skills through learning and hands-on experiences both on the High Line and within the community.Fellows are offered up to 200 hours of paid work a year, building skills through learning and hands-on experiences on the High Line and within our community. We also provide ongoing mentorship and networking support.
WHERE: Work locations include the beautiful oceanfront in the Rockaways, historic Coney Island, and the only floating pool in North America!
WHEN: January 29 until about August 31, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (each Fellow will be required to attend two afternoons per week); plus Midwinter Recess and Spring Recess Intensives, occasional Friday and weekend workshops, events, possible extended summer schedule and additional fall opportunities (dates TBD)
