BROOKLYN LIBRARY BOOKMATCH TEEN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: High School students grades 9-12
WHAT: Learn the art of recommending books from librarians, book selectors, publishers and authors, and offer a readers’ advisory service exclusive to teens. Represent BPL at events and select books to be added to the Library’s collection! Program takes place weekly Wednesdays in November and December for training, followed by bimonthly meetings and live book matching at BPL events through early June. The program is in person at Brooklyn Public Library's Central Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

STUDENT HISTORIAN INTERNSHIP AT THE NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY(PAID) Deadline: 09/22/24
WHO: High School students entering grades 10, 11, or 12.
WHAT: The New-York Historical Society (N-YHS) is now accepting applications from students in grades 10–12 for the 2024-25 academic year cohort of the Student Historian Internship Student Historian Internship Program. Student Historians use the resources of N-YHS to conduct in-depth research and share their scholarship through the production of creative digital projects that serve as public educational resources. Interns meet with professional staff to learn about the museum, library, digital humanities, and history fields, while working collaboratively with fellow students to develop their historical thinking, communication, and digital media skills. All interns receive a $700 stipend upon successful completion of the internship. Participation in this program can be used to fulfill the extracurricular requirement for the New York State Education Department’s Seal of Civic Readiness.

WHO: High School students graduating in 2025; identify as a young woman or gender expansive young person
WHAT: Nash U is a program to support you in determining what the best plans are for YOU after high school, with a focus on the college process. Our staff will help you through building your college list, applying to college, writing your college essay, applying for scholarships/financial aid, connecting with folks who have careers you're interested in, AND more.*STIPEND: Participants are eligible to receive an end-of-year stipend up to $200 based on attendance and the submission of college deliverables. In addition, Sadie Nash will cover costs UP TO $100 for ANY application expense, including application fees, score report fees, college deposits, and SAT test costs.

THE EMPOWER FELLOWSHIP SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP (PAID)
WHO: High school students between the ages of 15- 19 and living in New York City
WHAT: The EMPOWER Fellowship program at YA-YA is rooted in the foundation of social justice advocacy; that we, ourselves, must take an active role in our own growth. Empower focuses on identity development, self-esteem, confidence building, and leadership training. Throughout the spring, Empower fellows will complete an intensive program that focuses on the following: (I) Self Awareness & Identity Development, (II) Social Justice & Unlearning, (III) Action & Allyship (IV) Action Project. During the Action Project stage, young folks will get the opportunity to engage in an advocacy project of their choice.

WHEN: The Empower Fellowship will take place every Monday and Wednesday from
4:30-6:30pm from October 4th until March 24th.

TECH4POSITIVE FUTURES (PAID) Deadline: 10/04/24
Tech4Positive Futures Internship (PAID)
'WHO: Any student in grades 10-12
WHAT: Tech4Positive Futures is partnering with Capgemini and W!SE to run an internship for high school students. Join to be mentored by professionals in top companies and brainstorm ideas to address climate change by competing in groups to pitch your ideas to a panel of judges. All participants will receive a stipend of $575 upon full completion of the internship, along with a branded T-shirt and Tumbler. Additionally, winners at the national and regional level are eligible to win more including an iPad, MacBook, headphones, and more!
