WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: EBF’s mission is to prepare students of color (Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Multi-Racial) for careers in the media, entertainment and technology industries. Undergraduate students (including Class of 2024 spring graduates) and high school seniors are eligible to apply. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must be enrolled in a 4-year accredited college or university. This includes students who will transfer to a four-year accredited college or university in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. (High school seniors must provide a college acceptance letter if selected for the program.) For the internship, you must be able to commit to a summer internship that will last at minimum 8 continuous weeks and which could be longer as required by the company’s internship duration. The internship is full-time and students work from 35-40 hours per week as determined by the partner company. (Note: Internships generally start in May or June. The internship start and end dates are determined by the partner company.) Additionally, you must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status in the U.S., and must be 18 years of age prior to the start of the internship.

WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: The New-York Historical Society is accepting applications for the spring recess cohort of Tech Scholars: Tech Scholars: Web Design. Explore how women across the spectrum of race, class, and sexuality exercised power and effected change. Be a digital changemaker and create your own websites to share powerful stories about women in history. Participants will: research historical figures and events that continue to impact young people today; collaborate with other teens learning to code; learn HTML and CSS to design and build a website; be mentored by a wide range of professional leaders in technology, and learn about career options.

WHAT: Brooklyn Public Library's Teen Writing Contest is a chance for local teens to showcase their work in a supportive environment. Top winners in poetry and prose will receive the new Ned Vizzini Teen Writing Prize with a cash award to honor Ned and his literary legacy. If you're a teen writer from New York City, grades 6-12, you're invited to submit your poetry and prose to be judged by a panel of BPL's expert young adult librarians for creativity, style and voice.

ENGINEERING THE NEXT GENERATION (ENG) (PAID)
WHO: For students currently in grade 11
WHAT: For six weeks, students work with Columbia Engineering researchers and participate in programming to develop their academic and professional skills. Students gain practical research experience, collaborate with research faculty, staff, and students, practice new skills, and take part in multi-level mentorship.
Program components include experience in working on genuine engineering research projects, research skills and college prep workshops, science communications workshops, and additional supplemental seminars and opportunities.
Students are provided with a stipend to support them over the summer.
We encourage all rising seniors (current 11th graders) with an interest in engineering and research to apply.

THE SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SYEP)(PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences each summer. Participants receive the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that help to develop their social, civic and leadership skills. By participating in structured project and work-based opportunities, NYC youth are better prepared for careers of the future.

GATEWAY SPOTLIGHTS
10Th Grade Students were given the opportunity to visit St. Francis college and it was one to remember. The new building was beautiful and well crafted. Kids learned about the science and tech programs programs offered.
