WHAT: Engages youth in social justice activism through community drumming, singing and chanting in the community. This program is designed to provide students with an appreciation of percussion music as an art form, a cultural practice, a tool for social justice activism, and as a way to build community; all pursuits that can be developed for a lifetime. Participants will be inspired to use music as a tool for enjoyment, self-realization and liberation, for themselves and for each other as a community.

WHO: High School students 15-18 who attend school or live in the Chelsea, Meatpacking District, or Hell’s Kitchen neighborhoods are invited to apply
WHAT: Friends of the High Line is accepting applications for its next class of Fellows for its Emerging Leaders, a paid fellowship for high school students who attend school near the High Line or who live in the surrounding community. There are four pathways: Arts & Culture; Civic Engagement; Horticulture; and Park & Visitor Experience. Fellows are offered up to 200 hours of paid work a year ($15/hr), building skills through learning and hands-on experiences both on the High Line and within the community.Fellows are offered up to 200 hours of paid work a year, building skills through learning and hands-on experiences on the High Line and within our community. WHAT: A three-year, paid youth development program for those entering their sophomore year of high school through senior year. Fellows gain leadership skills, explore careers, and prepare for college and beyond with a starting pay of $18/hour. This opportunity is more than just their best first job experience: Fellows get a one-of-a-kind hands-on learning opportunity that draws from the High Line’s core strengths, building their confidence as leaders while connecting with peers and professionals across New York City.

WHO: Highschool Students in 9-11 grade
WHAT: The Tisch Spring Future Artists Program is a pre-college program that is FREE of charge, open to all eligible students, and centered on educational opportunities in studying in the arts with the same rigor and training offered in the undergraduate departments. It is designed for students who may not have access to other programs in their schools and/or communities and who would qualify for financial aid at NYU. This program is open to all interested first-years, sophomores, and juniors in high school. Students of all backgrounds are eligible for participation in this program; those from groups traditionally underrepresented in the media industry are encouraged to apply.
WHERE: Broadway Block, 721 Broadway, New York, NY 10003
WHEN: Students MUST commit to attending all of the classes during the 14-week program on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET (hours vary by department but will fall within this time) from from January 31, 2026 - May 9, 2026 and is taught by faculty from the undergraduate departments. You must be available on those dates and times for the entire duration of the program. Students who miss class for any reason may be dismissed from the program.

NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN EXPLAINERS PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: High school Students
WHAT: Teens share a sense of community, forge new friendships, and spend time outdoors exploring nature. Teens become more self-confident through public speaking, gain a deeper knowledge of a topic (plant science and ecology specifically), and share experiences with peers.
During the Onsite Internship, MetroCards are provided to defray the cost of transportation to and from the Garden. The onsite Internship benefits include admission for Explainers’ families to visit the garden, discounts at the Cafe and Shop in the Garden as well as documentation of service hours and recommendations for college or other scholarship programs.

WHEN: Each session requires a commitment to attend all four training days and one weekend shift of 4.5 hours for the duration of the internship.

WHO: All NYC high school students (grades 10th –12th)
WHAT: The New York Public Library is looking for teens in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade who are interested in at least one of the following:
Community engagement
Engaging their peers in library programs & services
Exploring the world and work of libraries
The Teen Center Ambassadors (TCA) position will be assigned to one of NYPL’s local branch libraries in the Bronx, Manhattan, or Staten Island, where they will create dynamic library events and resources for teen audiences at the library and encourage their peers to become more involved with their library. This will include hosting branch-based programs and events for teens, creating dynamic book displays, contributing a teen perspective to branch operations, and making the Teen Center as welcoming, inclusive, and empowering as possible.
Ambassadors will be provided with training and have the opportunity to attend special events, such as career panels, guest speakers, and library field trips. Ambassadors are paid $17 per hour.
WHERE: You will select up to 3 locations where you would be willing to work. You must be able to get to the locations you select by around 3 PM on weekdays
WHEN: 8 hours per week at a library branch after 3 PM on weekdays.
