SUMMER EXPOSURE PROGRAM (UNPAID)
WHO: 9th through 11th from underrepresented groups who are interested in pursuing a career in STEM
WHAT: The Summer Exposure Program is a hybrid remote and onsite six-week research program at Memorial Sloan Kettering offered to students in grades 9 through 11 from underrepresented groups who are interested in pursuing a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). The AAMC defines underrepresented as those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population. Participants will:
Get 18 hours of Kaplan SAT courses
Receive mentorship from a MSK faculty member and MSK Summer Pipeline Medical Student
Attend a series of scientific lectures, career panels, and hands-on demonstrations
Complete a five-minute research presentation or case study at the end of the program and will have a draft of their college essay personal statement
WHERE: The program is hybrid. There will be occasional onsite workshops, lunch and learns, and meetings with mentors onsite.
WHEN: We expect students to be available between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (lunch break included) Monday through Friday.

CREATIVE ART WORKS INTERNSHIP: NEW STUDENTS COHORT (PAID)
WHO: Any UAG student
WHAT: Creative Art Works’ paid Character Design Internship has returned this year and is ready to get you on track to explore different illustration styles, design principles, visual and written storytelling, and more. Session 1 is dedicated to beginners that haven’t taken the Character Design Internship, and will meet twice a week for seven weeks. You will learn how to conceptualize a character, background, visual narrative, digitization, and ultimately gain an understanding of working in a real-world setting with teamwork, deadlines, and group presentations. You will be eligible to earn up to $800!

ANIMAL LOVING CARE (💰PAID💰) Deadline: OPEN
WHO: Any UAG student
WHAT: Animal Loving Care is a doggy daycare center looking for an assistant who can assist with bringing dogs to and from playtime, manage feeding, and attend to their needs. The role involves organizing tasks and cleaning to maintain a safe environment for the dogs. You would also help with contributing to ALC’s social media presence by taking photos and videos, and pitching and producing creative ideas. You will earn $16.50/hour for up to 100 hours!

SUMMER BIOMEDICAL STUDENT PROGRAM (💰PAID💰) Deadline: 02/07/25
SUMMER BIOMEDICAL STUDENT PROGRAM
WHO: Currently enrolled as a high school junior; Legally authorized to work in the United States; A 3.5 grade point average in science subjects; Must be 14 or older by June 2025
WHAT: Founded in 2010, the Summer Student Program is designed for high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences. Students will have a chance to take part in an 8-week, biomedical or computational lab-based internship in a Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) research lab. Students are paired with a mentor who supervises their activities, helping them develop appropriate technical skills. Over the course of the internship, students complete a self-directed project that supports the Principal Investigator’s overall research objectives. Through participation in laboratory meetings and program sessions, students are exposed to a variety of people within their assigned laboratories and MSK community. Students receive a stipend of $1,200 for the summer. Housing is not provided.

DDA Students visited Long Island University to learn about the different Game Design/Digital Art programs offered and to also gain a firsthand experience of a college campus.
IT Students visted New Jersey Institute of Technology to Learn about the diffrent technology programs offered and to also gain a firsthand experience of a college campus.
10th grade seminar Students visited Albertus Magnus College to learn about to gain a firsthand experience of a college campus to allow students to assess if the environment, academics, student life, and overall feel of the school aligns with their interests and goals.
