MUSEUM OF ART AND DESIGN: RECESS INTENSIVE PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: sophomore or juniors who attend a NYC school
WHAT: RECESS is a paid, week-long, intensive internship program for teens 13 - 18 to learn about art and art history with other NYC teens, develop and lead peer-to-peer tours, and learn how museums work. The week-long internships take place during NYC public schools’ winter and spring breaks. RECESS I will be held Tuesday, February 20 to Friday, February 24, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm with a culminating event from 5–6 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024. RECESS II will be held Tuesday, April 11 to Friday, April 23, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm with a culminating event from 5–6 pm on Friday, April 23, 2024.
Interns Will:
● Go behind the scenes to develop a tour of a MAD exhibition.
● Develop a youth-friendly tour of a MAD exhibition.
● Conduct peer-to-peer tours at MAD.
Both Winter and Spring RECESS participants receive a $200 stipend, a weekly unlimited MetroCard, and have the opportunity to serve as a member of MAD’s teen council.

DOROT TEEN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN MANHATTAN (UNPAID)
WHO: 9th - 12th grade students
WHAT: Join the Academic Teen Internship Program on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for our winter semester. Choose one of the programs below to volunteer one afternoon per week starting January 29th – March 15th.
Home Visit : Interns are paired together to visit a DOROT older adult who lives on the upper west or east side for 45-60 minutes of friendly conversation and companionship. The visit is scheduled between 4 PM and 6 PM. Choose one afternoon per week: Mondays-Thursdays, 4:00-6:00pm)
Women in Community: Dialogue around Feminism : Through a series of facilitated conversations and activities, Teens and Older Adults will engage in drama, improvisation, storytelling, and music to explore womanhood and feminism. Come share your experiences and ideas across the generations. Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00pm at DOROT
Intergenerational Chess : Share your love chess and make a friend across the chess board! Each week older adults learn and play chess with a group of Teen Interns. Mondays, 4:30-6:00pm at DOROT
WHERE: In-person at DOROT’s office at 171 West 85th Street or in the senior's home

WHO: Any 11th or 12th grader
WHAT: Earn 80 hours of paid internship experiences in the IT or Media Design sector at various organizations. This is an amazing opportunity for you to gain meaningful connections, earn money, add experiences to your resume, and pick up on new skills. ***You will be paid at the rate of $15/hour, every 2 weeks***

WHAT: Creative Art Works’ paid Character Design Internship has returned this year and is ready to get you on track to explore different illustration styles, design principles, visual and written storytelling, and more. Session 1 is dedicated to beginners that haven’t taken the Character Design Internship, and will meet twice a week for seven weeks. You will learn how to conceptualize a character, background, visual narrative, digitization, and ultimately gain an understanding of working in a real-world setting with teamwork, deadlines, and group presentations. You will be eligible to earn up to $800!

WHAT: Creative Art Works’ paid Character Design Internship has returned this year and is ready to get you on track to explore different illustration styles, design principles, visual and written storytelling, and more. Session 2 is open to both new or returning interns with a focus on digital, and will meet twice a week for seven weeks. You will learn how to conceptualize a character, background, visual narrative, digitization, and ultimately gain an understanding of working in a real-world setting with teamwork, deadlines, and group presentations. You will be eligible to earn up to $800!

GATEWAY SPOTLIGHTS
Kids had a blast at the Hunter College trip and meant with an UAG Alumni, Larry Garcia who also attends Hunter as a freshman.
It was Awsome !!!
Kids went on a trip to learn new skills at Apple. Then to the LEGO store to explore and finally to the Rockefeller center to see the city views from the top.
