Course Description

Students who take this course will develop the ability to express themselves in basic Spanish by structuring simple, everyday conversations, with emphasis on the skills of speaking, listening and reading. Students will also learn about Latin American culture,customs, traditions and prayers.

Topics covered: Saludos y presentaciones (greetings and introductions), los números (numbers), el alfabeto (alphabet), los días de la semana (days of the week), mi familia, amigos y mascotas (my family, friends and pets), quién soy (who am I), dónde vivo y de dónde soy (where I live and where I am from), me gusta (what I like), ¡A rezar! Padre Nuestro, Ave María and Gloria). (Let’s pray! Our Father, Hail Mary, Gloria). Learning of basic grammar (use of present tense, regular verbs, pronouns, articles, adjectives and adverbs) will be achieved through these topics. Writing.

Assessment

Module tests testing reading, listening, and speaking skills, as well as knowledge of cultural topics.
