Year 10 Spanish

Course Description

This course focuses on the understanding and use of Spanish in realistic, communicative situations. Students develop their language while revising and expanding the Spanish already studied, using it to communicate personal information, ideas and opinions in a range of situations. Cultural studies are interwoven with the language skills.

Topics covered:

• • Mi familia y mis amigos/ My family and friends. Use of the verbs ser, tener and estar (to be and to have). Emphasis on the use of possessive adjectives.

  • Mi ciudad/ My city. Use of the verbs ir and querer (to go and to want). Emphasis on adjectives to describe places.

  • Mi insti/ My school. Use of the verb gustar (to like). Emphasis on conjugation of regular verbs.

  • Cultural and religious celebrations will continue to be acknowledged as an important component of studying the Spanish language.

Pre-requisite

Year 9 Spanish (with multistructural in at lease 2 tests) or by interview with HOD (if no prior experience in Spanish).

Assessment

Module tests testing reading, listening, and speaking skills.
