Lemon-Lime Sorbet

Lemon-Lime Sorbet

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice
  • zest of 1 lemon

Directions

First, make a simple syrup by heating together 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar. You'll see the mixture go from cloudy to clear. Remove it from the heat to cool. Put in the refrigerator to chill or chill in an ice bath.

Zest one lemon. Squeeze enough lemons and limes to render 1 cup of juice. I used 2 lemons and 3 limes to get my one cup of lemon lime juice. I have am electric juicer that helps to make this an easy step in the process.

When ready to make your sorbet, mix the lemon-lime juice and the simple syrup. Pour into the base of your ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer's directions and churn the mixture until frozen.

After 40 minutes my sorbet was soft frozen and very tasty. You can either serve in its soft form or transfer it to a plastic container with a cover for additional freezing.
