Citrus Zing Martini

Serves 1

  • 2 ounces ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 2 ounces mandarin orange vodka (I used Absolut)
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce citrus syrup (recipe below)

Directions

Early in the day make your citrus syrup by combining 6 ounces of orange juice and 6 ounces of grapefruit juice in a small pan. Heat the juices to boiling and reduce to simmer. Simmer the juices until reduced to 4 ounces. Set aside to cool.

Prepare your martini glass. Mix together orange decorating sugar and raw sugar on a flat plate. With your finger, run a bit of the citrus syrup around the rim of the glass. Roll the rim in the sugar mixture and set aside to dry.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients and shake until the cocktail shaker is frosty. Pour into your prepared martini glass.
