The Thirteen Races of Men/Women of Carcosa:
ATTENTION: For those unfamiliar with Geoffrey McKinney's Carcosa setting, the races of Carcosan men are not the same as Earth humans, nor are they in any way shape or form associated with slang terms for ethnicity in real life. When it states a skin color, it is literal.
Subjects will include biology, descriptions, traits and other features that will make them less like generic rpg humans.
Facial Features:
While generally human like in shape in Earth human terms, these creatures are vastly different biologically. Skin, hair and eye color will be much different than Earth humans. Expect wider variations in facial features. Any and all of the races can have skull shape/facial features similar to those of the various races of humans on Earth, but with the potential for any and in most cases mixed.
The big differences come with stranger looks that would be reflected more on Earth by someone who had excessive plastic surgery. (The Bogdanoff Twins for example.) Other examples would be appearing more exotic based on artistic styles. (Such as the more exotic portrayal of humanoids by artists like Erol Otus and Rodney Matthews, where facial features are elongated or just odd for humans. Imagine such styles in an actual human being in real life.)
Different Colored Blood:
To add some weird to the game, I gave each of the races different exotic colored blood in my campaign.
* Black Men (Blezarai):
Note: This is literal Black.
Eyes:
Blood: Is the color of Oxidized Bismuth.
* Blue Men (Bulisai):
Eyes:
Blood: Is an orange tinted gold color.
* Bone Men (Skelosus [Skelosai plural]):
These men appear to other races as transparent in flesh, skin and blood, with only their skeletons being visible. Bone Men can actually see each others skin, organs and bones simultaneously. This is extremely difficult to explain to non Bone Men. They see this in some other exotic color which may technically be just on the edge of ultraviolet. This will be referred to as the color "Skelus". This also allows them to perceive organ bio-photons that only broadcast in the "Skelus" range which resulted in their secret language of Grave Kant. (Grave Kant Credit: Crusssdaddy of "The Doomed World of Carcosa" blog.)
*Bone Men take 1/2 damage from all types of lasers as the their bodies ignore half the energy, due to the transparency of their flesh.
Eyes:
Blood: Looks like a clear Aquamarine color. (Outside the body.)
Helmets of Bone Men Warlords from the Silken Conclave:
* Brown Men (Bowasai):
Note: This will NOT look like an earth human skin tone of any type.
Eyes:
Blood: Looks like Bright Yellow-Green. (Like "The Predator".)
* Dolm Men (Immatra):
Note: As the color Dolm (Like Jale and Ulfire) are not actual real life colors and are exotic alien colors, the illustration below is just what I imagine the color we would see substituted by the actual color (Dolm) that is outside our perception.
Dolm is a compound color of Blue and Ulfire - "A Voyage to Arcturus" by David Lindsay
Eyes:
Blood: Looks like Brazilian Opal.
* Green Men (Ganarji):
Science Fiction Example: Orion Slave Women from Star Trek. (Example above is from Doctor Who.)
Notes:
Eyes:
Blood: Looks like metallic purple.
* Jale Men (Jhasite [Jhasites Plural]):
Note: As the color Jale (Like Dolm and Ulfire) are not actual real life colors and are exotic alien colors, the illustration below is just what I imagine the color we would see substituted by the actual color (Jale) that is outside our perception.
"Just as blue is delicate and mysterious, yellow clear and unsubtle, and red sanguine and passionate, so he felt ulfire to be wild and painful [and] jale [to be] dreamlike, feverish, and voluptuous." - "A Voyage to Arcturus" by David Lindsay
Eyes:
Blood: Has the color of brightly polished brass.
Jale Men (Jhasite):
One of the exotic alien skin toned races of Carcosa men. Jale Men and Women tend to be better at Sorcery than the other races. They start with slightly more Power Points and get a +1 to WIS. They can also naturally see the color "Sorus", the normally non-visible color of sorcerous energies. (Much like Octarine in the Discworld fantasy novels.)
[War Mask/Helmets of Jale Warlords who serve "She of the Lake".]
* Orange Men (Osorsai):
Eyes:
Blood: Is a metallic turquise color.
* Purple Men (Pahsari):
Eyes:
Blood: Looks like olive green tinted Mercury.
* Red Men (Rahjani):
Eyes:
Blood: Is a semi-transparent amber color.
* Ulfire Men (Ahnarru):
Eyes:
Blood: Is a neon brown color (Your brain hurt yet? Below is the closest I could get to attempting to illustrate what it would look like...)
* White Men (Whytite [Whytites Plural]):
Note: This is literal White.
Science Fiction Example: Chianna from Farscape. (Above example is from Star Trek 2009.)
Eyes:
Blood: Is an oily black color.
* Yellow Men (Yasurii):
Eyes:
Blood: Is a shiny gunmetal blue color.
