Dead Walk:
Description:
This disease is caused by a series of worms that begin to attach themselves
to major nerve centers, including the brain and spine. These worms are a
dark shade of orange blending into Ulfire, though are very tiny individually.
Afflicts:
Most sentient humanoids can be afflicted by this, including primitive, but
above animal intelligence apes. Gaunt Men are immune to this disease.
Bone Men will be easy to detect having this disease as the worms will not be
transparent while afflicting them. Brown men have the usual bonuses to resist
this disease, like any other. In addition double the times for Early and Mid
stages, as their body is able to fight off the disease longer. The rolled
insanity modifiers for Brown men is halved and penalties are -2 instead of
-3 for other races in mid stage.
Trasmitted:
This disease can be contracted by consumption of a humanoid who has the
disease or by contact of bodily fluids from an afflicted individual though
open wounds. (In combat, for example.) or if afflicted bites someone.
Early Stages: (starts 1D4 days after infection, 1D4 days till mid stage.)
Itching, Random shooting pain, headaches and nervous twitches. Any existing
insanities increase by 1D4 in rating by the end of this state.
Mid Stages: (1D4 days following Early Stages)
Numbing, Irrational Behavior, Constant Migranes, Spastic limb movement and
gestures. Any existing insanities increase by 2D4 in rating by the end of
this rate. 50% chance the character develops 1D4 more insanities at a 2D4
rating as well. -3 to all skills and combat.
Late Stages: (Starts 3D4 hours after Mid Stage & lasts 2D4 hours until dead.)
When target dies, within 1D4 hours they rise effectively as a zombie. Such
zombies only exist for 1D6 days before the dead tissue can no longer sustain
the "Dead Walk Worms". The body will collapse, but still be able to reach out
and grab and/or bite those who pass by for 1D4 hours. After that, the worms
begin to persish. Within 4D4 hours the body will have deteriated to the point
that it will not be possible to contract the disease from the corpse.
