Match Report v Halfway House (away)

Post date: Sep 18, 2013 10:51:17 AM

New season brings a tough first away game to last seasons league runners up Halfway House.

Not that we hadn't seen this bunch of pool players for a while.:)

As we played a friendly last week them at Erith snooker. That finished 5-5 so we knew it was going to be a close battle.

Captain Pinkie up first. A close tactical battle with Mark ensued, but Pinkie shot himself in the foot when he went in/off when going for game. Simple finish for Mark and Halfway had first blood.

Mop played a controlled game, but rattled a half table black. Seep snookered after losing position on his next visit. But mop escaped off 2 cushion and potted black to square match.

Sherwood was playing well, and looked good for a win v Peter. He potted a tight black but the white went of 2 cushions to find the pocket in corner. ;(

The Rat got us back to 2-2 when he finished with a nice clearance.

OSW v Steve Heather game was all about the black ball. Glen got first shot at as half table black but he missed it. Steve then got same sort of shot on black and missed it by more! But missing by more sometimes helps, as it went of 2 cushion and found opposite corner! Ouch again 2-3 down

The Rat got picked again by Bert as we only had 5. A strange choice as the Rat played well in his. But you can't question the mighty Bert. Well I just did I guess but I shouldn't of. Saying that Bert played a good game of pockets and won well.

4-2 down after singles not good! as we are crap at doubles and Halfway have a big trophy as best doubles team from last year... not good at all.

But a good start from Mop and a drunk Pinkie v Steve and Mark. Mop pulled of a good dish when he got half a chance. Black rattled a bit too much for mop's liking but it still went down!

A good game v OSW and Sherwood brought the tie even again! 4-4. We won 2 doubles. Shocking..

An early potted black by the Rat when trying to escape out a snookered ended our night win hope and a might doubles run of 2 wins :)

Result: 5-4 loss to start the campaign was not what the doctor ordered. But a tough place/team to come and play, and we didn't get much luck with the black ball over the night. So we just have to swallow the pill and hopefully get our first win next week at home.
