Match Report v Pickwick away

Post date: Jul 10, 2009 1:22:20 PM

It was time for the dogs to visit the acedemy of pool, or as we like to call it the place with the small table and annoying pole.

The Dogs were on time for once, so a prompt start was had. Perhaps we could finish early?? What we did not count on was the dark arts of pool being deployed........

It started well, with a great Wobbly finish when Dean gave him 2 shots. 1-0 dogs

Pinkie played a good game but a well worked DF by Adam Everitt forced Pinkie to go for a half chance finish which failed to take. This left Adam a clearence which he took well. 1-1

Gafa v Mop next. Very tight game played by Gafa where he slowly edged to the winning line.

John back from hols played Gary. John had some very unlucky rolls of the balls which led to him losing a tight game.

3-1 set lost

OSW last and won a good game with some good potting.

2-3

2nd set was a poor display by dogs. Some slow tactical play (the dark arts....) from the Pickwick team led to a some poor shots being played by Dogs. This led to a heavy 4-1 loss in second set.

Highlights were Adam E playing some good break building and a good escape/pot which led to the win. OSW also produced a good clearence to seal the only Dogs win.

1-4

3rd set was started at 10:30 due to slow games beforehand. Shot timing was also started to try and speed events up! Most of the dogs team by now were half asleep. (most had v early starts in the morning!)

OSW first playing Adam E. Adam somehow missed a simple black, this left a tough clearence for OSW. But in his rich vein of form, he took it well, to take a good win.

Pinkie up next to play Ash. Ash showed none of his previous slow play and took a good clearence to take win. 1-1

Rocket v Gafa.. Did the stop clock cause Gafa some issues. As a mistake in the end game let Rocket in, to produce a win for Dogs. 2-1

Night was getting long now. it was closing in to the witching hour.... (not quite but was well gone 11)

Mop up next. Not a great night so far, which was to get worse. On for a finish a full length backspin into a pocker sealed a another loss for dogs.

2-2

The dogs were finished now. Most needing to get some shut eye. John decided to get last frame over quick. A series of 4 *non* tatical DF's let to game finishing in about 2 minutes. A gift of the last set to Pickwick..

2-3

Thankfully now it was time for bed...... zzzzz

Score: 3-0 sets and 10-5 frames to Pickwick. The dark arts were deployed and dogs just rolled over..

MOM: Adam E played some good games, but OSWs 3 wins meant he got MOM for the night, he played some great potting and positional play.
