Match Report v Jolly Fenman (away)

Post date: May 13, 2009 7:08:14 PM

The game was finally played, albeit at a different date to the scheduled league game and a different venue! (at the 'In Anchor we Hope') . Least it was the same players

Game started very well for the Dogs, with Harry Trebles players of Pinkie, Rocket and Mop all taking advantage of mistakes by their opponents. All three finished when they had the chance in clinical fashion. First set won!

Tower (Tony Halpin/Jolly Fenman) played John next. Tony did not let John even have a direct shot on a ball before he had finished the game! But Glen took the last to finish the set 4-1.

Next set saw a reverse of the scoreline, with only Rocket winning for dogs after he capitalised on being given 2 shots by George again.

All square on sets and frames with 5 to play

The Harry Dogs blasted out of the blocks again with John pulling off a doubled black to take first.

Rocket Ryan played Tower next, both were on 2 wins from 2.

Rocket done a DF (deliberate foul) to clear a blocked pocket. With Tower not missing a ball all night this seemed a risky play. Tower opened the pack up with first, and then went for long pot with his second. He missed! Which left a chance for Rocket to clear which he took in a fine display of potting .

2-0 to Dogs.

Mop/Dan next. Mop gave 2 shots away middle game which looked liked game to Dan, but a bad miss on black let Mop back in the game. A few snookers later by mop and the game was his.

3-0 Dogs and the night was won!

Kev and Glen lost the last 2 but no points were dropped for that, just some game averages :)

Score: 2-1 sets and 8-7 frames.

Verdict: 3 points from the team that finished 2nd last season was not a bad nights work!

Player of the Night: Rocket was in excellent form. I can't remember a missed shot/positional play, and he produced the dogs first clean sweep (3 wins on the night) And beating players like George Covington (twice) and Tower who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in last years SLKPA rankings. He could not of had harder opponents!
