Harry A v Harry B cup match

Post date: Oct 15, 2008 12:38:44 PM

The luck of the draw brings the two Harry's together for the first round team KO

Local rivalry was fierce and bragging rights were up for grabs. And as both teams produced good 8-1 and 9-0 wins the week before in their league games confidence was high for both sides.

Both Harry teams fielded un-changed sides from last week, showing Liverpool's manager Benitez the rotation policy is not used in pub league pool!

Pinkie came out the block firing against Harry B captain Steve. Tight game with Steve escaping three good snookers, Pinkie just edged the 'end game' and with a good long black to finish.

Moppy played second v Dave. Mop started well but lost his way at the end. But unfortunate in-off by Dave on his last yellow left mop an easy black to win.

Ryan v Guvn'r Dave was a tight affair but 2 good long pots by Ryan produced a 3 game lead to the Harry 'A' team.

John v Chris. John always had the upper hand which he carried through to the finish. 4-0

Keith v Shaun. All out potter Shaun versus tactical mastermind Keith was going to be an intersting match. But Shaun left his 'A' game (and possibly his 'B' and 'C' game) at home which let Keith go postal and finish. 5-0

Glen v Dave. Glen is on a rich vein of form after the pool weekend, he carried this to the match too. He left Dave outpotted and bewildered to what had happened to make him lose.

6-0 to Harry A

Doubles went the same way with Harry 'A' cleaning up.

9-0 to Harry A sees them progress through to round 2 and a second succesive 9-0 victory. They have not lost a single frame of pool in their last 19 frames of league pool!

Harry B were unlucky not to take a few frames, but they need to play better end game tactics to win at Div 1 level. But they should have a good chance of taking Div 3 this season.
