Match Report v Railway Club Boys (2nd Dec)

Post date: Dec 3, 2008 7:10:24 PM

A match with our arch enemy was upon us. Well actually more like a local derby in football game terms. As we get on quite well. Well we all did before this game :)

A full pack of Harry dogs were ready for the battle. With John being unlucky dipped out of the 6 starting singles.

Pinkie as ever got us underway, playing argubaly their best player Darren. Darren got off to a good start after pinkie tried to roll up behind a yellow and left it about a foot short! 2 shots to Darren who almost cleared, but got a second chance after another 2 shots was given to him again on his next visit!

Wobbly up next playing Alan, game could of gone either way but a good end game performance by Wobbly took the spoils.

Mop up third playing Jason, poor start by both players where colours took about 4 shots to decide! End game left mop snookered, which he escaped and potted, then a very long yellow pot left a perfect black position which he prompty took for the game.

Rocket Ryan played some great shots but was let down by his last yellow pot, where he also lost the white to a pocket. He was punished in full and lost the game. Glen went the same way to Railways Phil where both had chances to take the game.

The ever dependable Posty Keith took the last singles versus Steve. This left it 3-3 after singles.

Double then got interesting!

John/Posty versus Alan/Phil

John gets first taste of league pool after the infamous Clements/Royal Oak game 4 weeks ago! We were hoping for a quiet introduction back.. But no!

Game got underway with neither team dominating. But as John lines up his yellow. Alan from Railway calls a foul as he says he sees John touch the black ball. John denies this and no one else sees it either. As no refs were nominated at start of game it was down to active players to sort out. It was decided a Railway 2 shots, where Alan actually clears in one. This left John in a foul mood and denied it for the rest of the night. This shows Refs are probably best for the 'big' games.

Mop/Pinkie fancied their chances in their doubles after their excellent display the week before. But very unfortunate snooker when Pinkie was going for game meant this doubles also went to Railway.

This just left Glen and Wobbly versus reigning doubles champions of Darren/Jason. This also went to Railway Boys to leave Harry with no doubles wins and a 6-3 loss.

Not a single win versus one of the top 3 sides this season, is not what the doctor ordered. Seasons still not halfway yet, but this leaves an uphill battle for the rest of it.

Or perhaps we should focus on a good cup run :)
