Match Report v Running horses

Post date: Jun 4, 2010 10:25:02 AM

A welcome home local derby was on the cards for tonights match v Running Horses. With the teams only seperated by a few criminals residences in the blocks of flats north of Erith Snooker.

Our first time taking on the Running horses in SLKPA league. But the teams know each other well from friendlies and Ivor thomas league games.

A shaky first set form the Master8's. Captain Power took the lead again and produced a solid first win.

Then a possible physics break down in the time/space continumium happened. Two Paul Williams's were paired against each other! I think the universe was sparred total destruction on this occasion. Needless to say Paul Williams won. But not the master'8s one. 1-1

The ripples of the possible total universe collapse must of had an effect on the next games!

As John was involved in the worse game of pool ever played in any possible universe ever concieved! After 3 light years worth of pool misses John stumbled over the finish line quite dazzed and confused.

The next game was just as bizzare, as Wobbly won the 4th game and 1st set win without even playing a shot! Mick (running horses) broke potted a couple, then a shot later potted his yellow and cannoned the black in as well!

Set finished 3:2 to Master8ers after an OSW loss in last frame.

Second set was more straight forward with comfortable 4:1 home win, with only game of note was a loud and boisterous game between Captain Power and Mark Whiteacre! CP won it

Third set was a close again. First up Captin Power and he failed to get his first clean sweep icon by the finiest of misses on the black. Running Horses Paul Williams then cleared in style to produce a flawless 2 wins for him on the night.

Wins for OSW and Moppy and another loss for John set-up a last frame set decider with Wobbly and Mick again.

Not to be outdone with the bizarreness of the first match-up. They stepped it up a notch this time!

Not to mention the normal outrageous in-offs and snookers happening, The most notible event/s was the dropping in by itself of the wobbly's last red over the pocket. This happened just as he was about to come to table to escape out of the snooker. Ref Mop knowing the rules stated it should just be replaced with no penalties so that happened. A few shots later after a few misses and DF's Mick fluked a four cushion pot, and at the same time the same red dropped in the pocket again by its own accord! Rules were queried again, but as it didn't interfere with the shot played the red was replaced! Mick carried on but didn't clear, and Wobbly closed out the frame/set a couple of shots later!

Another clean sweep icon for Wobbly. I'm running out of them! And I make that played 14 won 13....

Also if anyone knows about Captain Powers Cue case as it went missing. Let me know on mopster@gmail.com

Result: 3:0 and 10:5 frames. Not a convincing win but the result we needed. And the universe survived which was a bonus! All to play for in the league now...
