Match report v New Eltham Social

Our yearly trip to New Eltham was here again.. why else would you go there ;)

Different team this year as Tony Frost had led most of the players to the Fox like the Pipe Piper of Hamelin

The master8'ers started well led by Captain Power (ex pinkie). He cleared well and showed the way and the rest followed. With Rocket, Wobbly, Two Sseason Wonder( formally One season Wonder) and John all being inspired by the new leadership and taking the first set with a comfortable 5:0 score line.

John fell on his sword and let mop in the second set. Mop took the chance to play and won well first game. Captin Power (CP) steps up, it all looked good but a simple missed black to the middle cost him dearly! Our first loss of the night. Was the pressure of captaincy showing?? Time will tell.

The rest of the set was neaty wrapped up with a little bow on it with a 4:1 scoreline to us. Rocket, Wobbly and TSW producing good finishing to close it out

The team were getting the Roy Orbison voices ready, for a chorus of Only the Lonely for the new Captain...

But only the lonely,

Know Why,

I cry,

Only the lonely

Dum-dumdum-dumdy-doo-way

TSW showed his potting style by taking his third of the night. 1:0 first game last set. And a clean sweep icon for him... (see players score page)

John up next taking the loser CP place. He failed to take his chances and joined CP in the losers corner... and putting a stop to the Roy Orbison warm up..

Wobbly on a hot streak since the start of the season. Took a tight game to take his 3rd win of the night. Putting him on played 11 won 10! New dad status is working well for him!

Rocket looked tired and it showed in his play. A loss, set up a final frame decider to take the last set point. Perhaps he needs a weekend off.

Mop looked to be cruising it, but 2 missed blacks to the middle set up a black ball game. At the third attempt he finally closed it out! Last set point won. It would of been a shame to lose a point after playing so well for the night in general.

Result: 3:0 and 12:3 frames. More consistancy and play like this, and we should be up challenging for the league title at the end of the season.
