Match Report v Village Inn Vets (17th Dec)

Post date: Dec 17, 2008 11:44:31 AM

A wander down the hill to the Village Inn was on the cards for the Harry Dogs.

Just the 6 of us as Keith the posty, probably had a sack full of letters to deliver to Santa at the south pole. Is Lapland at the south pole?? I guess i should checks facts before writing the pool blog

Wobbly off first versus John formally from Belvedere Social. Wobbly got his yellow ball stuck behind 3 reds in the pocket, which eventaully caused his downfall. 0-1

Mop up next versus Jim the Landlord. Tight game but a white ball pocketed by Jim let mop clear in style. 1-1

Rockets game was evenly contested. Glen from Village failed to pot black and let Rocket have 2 shots with one red in open play and black over pocket. Rocket failed to roll red ball in, or leave it pottable for his second! Which meant a thrown away game. 1-2

John up next and a very good game of pool followed.

John broke and went for dish as balls broke out nicely. Last red was tricky needing a carom of a yellow down the rail which he just failed to get.

A very good snooker was then laid by Jeremy, leaving only a hard 2 cushion escape up the full length of the table. John pulled this shot out of bag! Amazing shot! This led to a very similiar snooker being laid again, which john escaped in the same fashion! Just to prove it was not luck!!! and this time he potted it. No black pot available meant Jon just put black in the middle of table.

Jermey then went for his 5 ball clearence on yellows. He left a tight black which he potted but the white found the pocket as it flew round table! Great game to watch and neither player deserved to lose 2-2

ex Railway player Tommy had to be pitted against Pinkie! Bad game by pinkie allowed Tommy to take the spoils, Glen played Glen (only 5 present for Village so we picked Glen to play again). The Harry dogs enjoyed the double Glen jokes and banter :) and Glen eventually won. Our Glen that is :) 3-3

Doubles, mop/pinkie took first win in doubles. but a few scares were had on the way! 4-3

Our Glen threw away the second doubles game in style having 2 shots and clearance possibly! 4-4

Down to last game which mop got picked to play again as Rocket left early. End game had wobbly 2 shots 4 easy balls and black. He ended up with 2 on last yellow which he failed to pot in both!! Game lost and night lost 4-5

Too many mistakes were made in the night by the dogs. Mid table is our position after playing all teams once. A poor 1st half season.
