Match Report v Royal Oak

Woohoo. A Master8'ers v Oak match i can write a report about ;)

Captain Power starts the fight off, sorry I mean starts the match off. He was pitted against a sober JK and CP pulls off another great clearence like last week, to get in the first punch i mean frame....

Man of the moment Wobbly next, and he fails to pot the black and Phil clears up. Master8'ers watched in shock.. Wobbly don't lose!! But he did.. TSW Glen went the same way in a tight game v James. 2:1 Oak.

Up next to the ring, was the bill of the night. John v Mark :) What was the chances of these 2 being drawn together..

Mark controlled the game well from the start. John played some good defence but a fortunate double pot on escape let Mark finally close out game. 3:1 set to Royal. The 2 Paul's drawn last, a dry break from Clements let Moppy control the table which he took to finish line to keep scores close at 3:2 to Oak

CP v Mark Hill started next set. And probably dish of the night goes to Mark as he took out a good finish with a doubled black at the end. Wobbly up next, and a shocking black miss cost him the frame after he played well to get to the black

Mop took next frame v a semi pissed JK to keep second set alive for the Master8ers 1:2 down. A loss for Rocket versus a good Steven Heather frame meant we had lost second set. But TSW kept it close with a win on last frame. 3:2 to Oak again

A much better start for master8ers in last set with wins for CP, Wobbly and Moppy (who gained another 3 winicon ). This meant a set point with 3:0, so we needed one more frame to take the night win bonus point. A see-saw battle with John and Steve H saw Steve cross over the finish line first. Leaving Steve Heather unbeaten for the night.

7:7 again. You couldnt script it any better!

Mark Hill v TSW for final point. Was a very tactical frame. TSW had advantage which slowly shifted to Mark. The tension could be cut with a knife. Or broken by the sound of broken glass! Twice actually by a very pissed JK. A quick discussion on who 'invented' gravity ensued. It certainly wasn't JK!

A foul by TSW, left an opportunity for Mark to close out, but he was thrawted by getting stuck behind the black (unluckily) on his last colour. TSW closed out after this and squared all the points up.

Result: Lost 2:1 in sets but won 8:7 in frames. A fair result overall and leaves the race to the league finish line all still up in the air..
