Match report v Bellegrove social

It was crunch time. We had Great Expectations but could we deliver a winning performance to get us to top of the division. We knew we had a tough match tonight v table toppers Bellegrove. It started a bit late as Bellegrove could not find the place. Erith Snooker location is a bit like the Erith version of the Old Curiosity Shop!

Captain Power, who is in great form of late, took the first frame v good player Stephen Pearce from Bellegrove. Omens were looking good.

Non team player Marsters played Danny Foley, Marsters was on top with a covered pocket game. He got the 2 shots on the black, which he knocked out to a pottable position with his first. But just failed to take the long black pot which then lead to a loss.

Mop missed a tough first red on an open break from Ashley. This was his only shot as Ashley then took reds and finished well in one visit.

Wobbly got involved in a very tactical battle with about 4 balls in one pocket, It was so tactical it would of made the Pickwick Papers... But he failed to make a telling DF when required, which left Ron to take advantage and win.

And a couple of failed black pots to the middle by OSW led to Hard Times for master8'ers. We dropped to a 4-1 loss in the first set. It was a Bleak House

We need to get some wins. So we called on another 2 players, MWCBM and Rocket

Both played well and won. We had some momentum now, CP produced yet another win, Mop managed to beat Dan even though Dan got down to the black with 2 and should of won. And OSW made a whitewash set to the master8'ers with a well taken 6 ball clearance.

6-4 up. What a turn around. "Please, sir, I want some more" !

But it was the same as Oliver Twist. More was not forth coming. Losses for both MWCBM and OSW, although close games put us on the back foot again.

6-6. Best of three now.

Up next Moppy who produced a lovely finish when it didn't look possible, to put Master8ers back in the lead. This game was swaying back and forth

Marsters failed to beat Ashley which led to a showdown of CP v Danny Foley at 7-7. Illusionist David Copperfield could not have made more excitement out of it...

CP had first chance to win but when getting position on black he just slipped behind a yellow snookering himself. Danny played the safety game but when the chances came up he just didnt take them. He left CP a very tough long cut along top rail or a double to try and pot the black. CP went for the cut and pulled of a lovely shot to win the match in style fitting of a top2 game.

Result: 8-7 win for Erith Snooker. We need much more to have a chance for the league title. It should now be Bellegroves as we need to make up 6 points on last game. We played well on the night with Kevin doing a captain performance of another 3 out of 3. 2nd place should almost be guaranteed now.
