Match report v Crayford Social

Post date: Oct 6, 2010 12:51:22 PM

3rd match of the season..

Could we keep up the winning ways..

Well moppy couldn't keep his. His first loss of the seaosn came in first game v Sam. Open attacking game and Mop failed in his first clearence attempt leaving Sam to clear well. Was also refreshing to see he didn't have to go for 2 shots before doing so.

All was going well for Captain Power in second game until the black ball. then all hell broke loose. Both players tried to lose the game, luckily for us Crayford's Paul had more success at it. 1-1

Rocket Ryan took a good finish when available, all the shots hitting the centre of the pocket showing a player in good form.

Wobbly was playing Anthony. End game was where it got interesting. Paul looked to have lost it when he missed his last red and left it over the pocket. Anthony looked to have the finish as all the balls were pottable but strangely followed through in one ball and gave 2 shots away. Stranger things were to happen as with the simpliest of clearences Wobbly managed to miss his ball in the pocket with and a striaght shot and ball in hand! ... Sometimes clearences can be too simple!

Or perhaps.. Match fixing.. Wobbly won the scratch card that Antony set-up 10 minutes after game had finished... Looks like a tenner is the current price for a thrown game!!

2-2

John failed in his next game but OSW evened the games out with a solid game.

3-3. On to the doubles. Never a happy task for us, we normally need at least 4-2 lead to take the game in doubles!

But things looked brighter.

Kev/Rocket lead the way, with a gem of a finish from the Captin Power. World Rules really has improved our finishing.

The Paul's (Mop/Wobbly) lead a seasaw game. Crayford messed up finish on last red. Mop missed his chnace but layed a good snooker to keep the advantage and gained 2 shots. Wobbly was cruising as he cleared the colours but the lack of confidence from last game showed on the black as he missed with the 2 shots.. A fine cut looks to have taken the game for Crayford but he called a foul on himself as he said he touched the black on the shot. Good to see honesty in the game..

John/Glen game and John took out a good finish when given 2 shots.

Stats man needed to find out last time we won all three doubles.... Not that long ago tbh.. We played Red Barn 3rd from end last season when we did the same.. But it dont happen often..

Result: A good 6:3 away win and 3rd win on the trot. Next league game v the Oak.. Lets see who takes the early spoils...
