Match Report v Village Inn A

Post date: Feb 26, 2014 12:02:02 PM

Home game for us v some tough competitors Village Inn A (Formally Valley Road).

Pinkie up first and lost to a very good clearance Steve E with a double black at the end.

Sherwood up next and capitalised on a mistake by Gooner to finish a quick game.

Longest frame of night and possible season so far. Mop v Mark. Pockets covered meant no finish available for either player. Mop manoeuvred the black to his covered pocket which paid off, as when Mark went for game he had a tough long double as his only option. He missed this and Mop cleared up.

Rat had control of the next frame with a covered pocket and finished it with controlled clearance.

in form OSW next and he made a meal of his game v Steve H. A missed black to middle by Steve let Glen have a chance and he took it.

Pat could pick his opponent as Erith D only had 5 due to Blaster not being about due to birth of Baby Myles. (Congrats to Steve & Becs)

Pat chose in form OSW! Pat was playing well and had to get black out from OSW yellows to win frame. He knocked it out just over middle pocket for easy finish!! So Pat chose well!

4-2 singles and doubles now. We are now doubles experts, not sure what has changed but we have won 17 of the last 21 frames of doubles!

First up we put in Sharon (as we only had 5) after her trebles winning form from last week. She got Pinkie out of trouble after he missed with 2 on the black as she potted a fine black to middle.

Mop/Sherwood up next and Mop decided he would not have another long tactics match. Mop took out a tasty 7 ball clearance on his first visit to the table, the black finding a route through the pack of reds to the corner. Which included a lovely cut down 3/4 of the side rail to start it off.

OSW broke next and he was true to the cartoon I posted on FB earlier in the day. The white flew off and hit the wall on his break! 2 shots to Pat and Steve

Pat potted a couple but missed a couple. Rat not to be out done by Mop then dished up the 7 reds and the black in his first visit too!

2 Village Inn Steve's didn't get a shot in last 2 doubles!

Result: 7:2 Erith D were on form. The 2 frames we lost were to 2 good finished by Village Inn. OSW got lucky with his frame after Steve missed a simplish black, but otherwise a very polished performance by Erith D players. The 8th league win on the trot puts us now 2nd and with a good challenge for title.
