Match report v New Eltham Social Club

Post date: Jan 28, 2011 1:03:59 PM

We were expecting a tough match away to New Eltham. They really have moved up the table, and are challenging for promotion in the later half of the season.

And a tough start it was. Captain Power (CP) started off the proceeding with a well taken opener. Mop up next and had a good game with Alex Thompson. Mop snookered himself on the last last red and failed to get out of it, this led to his first loss in 12.

Marsters won with a very good clearance and a '7 baller' to put us in the lead, but 2 loses in the last frames of the set put us 2-3 down. I forgot to mention the player mistake in the 4th game which went like this : " " (deleted due to copyright problems)

(Nice skirt little man)

Second set saw CP and Wobbly win, then we had the eagerly awaited match. Out 'Little Man' (Rocket) joined the action versus lower div rankings leader Ernie Wellhausen who is a very 'Big Man'. This David and Goliath match up went the same as the biblical fable. With the Little Man coming out victorious with a good finish when given 2 shots. (not with a stone and sling though!)

Masters lost to an in form Alex Thompson and Mop got back to winning ways to take the 4th win of the second set

6-4 up

CP started again and for the third time of the night got a win. A good clean sweep icon for the captain. But losses by Goliath slaying Rocket, Wobbly to the Goliath and a Drunk OSW put us all square at 7:7. Luckily Mop mopped up at the end and got the win for the biblical night.

Result: 8:7 win keeps us going. Not great for the title challenge, but we shall have to wait to the deciding night that most likely will be at home v Bellegrove Social
