Match Report v Oak B (away)

Post date: Sep 25, 2014 9:27:58 AM

Week 2 was at Oak. To be fair., my favourite away table in the league. But i guess i do pop down there some Sunday nights so know it quite well.

Pinkie up first and Mop had predicted at the start of the day he would win. Mystic Mops prediction came true, as we started the nights score with a win. As for the game it was not one that has stayed in the memory banks.. I'm sure there were some good shots..

Sherwood v Steve S was always going to be a quick frame. And a total of 4 visits was all that was needed to end frame. Mistake by Sherwood lost the frame as he thought he still had 2 visits when he got to black. To be fair to Sherwood, the banter was high and the jukebox had music below on. that is a lot to content with as well as remember how many visits you had taken :)

Mop up next and quite a tactical battle. Mop pulled off some nice snooker escapes to keep in the frame. Then a couple of snookers by Mop forced a mistake by Dave and Mop cleared with a shot to spare for the second week running. Shame you can't store them up. Perhaps a rule change for next season :). 2 Shots carry to next league frame :)

2-1 up

Soon to be 2-2 as Real Kev couldn't match last weeks decent finish as he lost to a free potting Adam.

Rat got stuck in some snookers for the second week running. 2-3.

And OSW started his account for retaining his Karen Bell trophy with a nervy finish. 3-3

On to Doubles. Mop/Pinkie v 2 Steve's . A dry break by Mop passed the initiative to Oak B team. Pinkie/Mop were only playing containing shots from the start. Oak B played didn't make any mistakes and slowly took control of both bottom pockets. Last ditch attempt to put black safe by Mop failed and Steve S dished up

Sherwood dished up when given 2 shots in 2nd doubles match to make it a final frame shoot out. Bit like the footy at the time as Liverpool v Middlesbrough game was on 25+ penalty kick at the time :)

OSW/Rat failed and lost final frame to lose the night 4-5

Result: About same level performance as last week. We know we can play better as a team, but to be fair Oak B played well with their 5 players. Need to improve form quick
