Match report v Fox under the hill

Post date: Aug 9, 2010 12:44:22 PM

Both second place teams in teir 2 divs met at Woolwich rileys to battle for last place in Elite league.

Fox took first blood by a well taken finish Allan Formosa to beat cpatain power in first set.

But that was all the fox were getting in the first set as Erith Snooker stepped up the pressure to take the next 4 to take first set 4:1

This was a race to 8 KO winner takes all, so it was a good first 5 frames as we were halfway there already!

Next set was was nip and tuck with both teams trading frames. It finished 3-2 to fox

This meant it was 6:4. Erith snooker needing 2 out of 5 to win night

Now it was getting interesting!

Mop up first and Allan cleared his reds from the break but the black was left in a cluster so no opportunity to win. A few snookers and DF's led to mop going for clearence with 2 shots. He looked ot have done it as he got down to a relatively simple black. But probably a lack of concentration led to a bad miss which let Allan take a simple black to win.

Captain power produced a captains performacne to take the next, meaning we need one out of the next 3. Surely!

OSW up next who played a very defensive Chris Gaunt. OSW decideed to go for it after some tacical play, He got the black out but it failed to land nice, which he then missed and it fell invitingly for chris to finish.

Next game was turned on a refereree decision. End game saw Dave Faulkes have 2 shots and looking to have a good finish, He was using first to set up balls, but ref caled a no cushion foul. People inline of shot saw the ball get clipped then white hit cushion and back on ball. It was a tight one to call. But ref deceision is final and simon cleared up setting up and last frame decider.

With momentum fully with Fox now, it looked ominous and the gods had the final say when wobbly had an unfortunate in-off which cost him the game. Richard held his nerve to take the finish and take an unlikely victory for the Fox.

Result: 7:8 loss. One of those nights is probably best to describe it. Least we got free pool entry as the £55 winnings just covers next seasons!
