match report v Running Horses

Post date: Jul 23, 2010 4:40:32 PM

Our closest neighbours and home of the best pool grub in the land.

Games started off well. Captain Power taking the lead again, showing good early form to take the first win. This showed the way and the first set was won by 4th game.

Second set: Captain power took the first in second set as well. The rest of the set was tit for tatt. Ended up 2-2 with Glen playing mick in final frame decider. Mick broke well and potted and controlled the table. Glen tried a DF to turn the tide, but Mick was having none of it. He took out a good 5 ball clearence to take set for Running horses

Captain power gained his second clean sweep icon in as many weeks after he won the 3rd set opener against a good player Simon. Simon looked to have had the game, but he left himself jaw snookered on the black and CP cleared up when given the 2 shots for a failed escape.

Roket won second frame but John lost the third in the set. Mop v Mick next. Mop was on a possible clearence, but he had his last red just in a cluster of yellows and black. He plays an excellent carom off a yellow to pot the last red in the middle and get the black out. Black comes out and stays near middle, but unfortunately the white gets stuck behind a yellow. Mop banks the white off the top cushion and cuts the black in to finish an excellent clearence and take the set. TSW takes last to wrap up the night

Result: 9:6 frames and 2:1 set wins. Really needed a 3:0 to put a little pressure on Oak for last game. 2nd place should of been secured, so looks as if a play-off game down rileys might be another night out for the master8'ers
