Match report v Oak B (home)

Post date: Jan 15, 2014 1:42:19 PM

Oak B turned up for last game of first half of season a few players short. This was our chance to get some points

Pinkie up first and broke his bad run of loses in singles with a win. Although he still wasn't firing on all cylinders. REALLY?

Blaster up next and put some good confident pots in. But Aaron had first half chance and got to a potable black but caught it too thick. Blaster pulled of a good clearance to win.

A very out of sorts Sherwood up next, who lost to Russell who had a fortunate positional shot on black but still deserved win.

Moppy up next and pulled of a very difficult dish v Nigel as he navigated round the yellows to pot a tough black.

The late pairing of Rat and Bear up last and both been solid lately. Rat pulling of a good finish.

Singles 5:1 nice start.

Sherwood/Pinkie lost our first doubles. REALLY?

But mop dished up well in second and the Bear finishing the 3rd doubles of the night in style. REALLY?

Result: 7-2 is always a good score. We were in control most of night. With Halfway and Oak also winning, it didn't improve our situation much apart from cementing 3rd place. Half season done and 9 points behind leaders halfway (who we play next) a couple of silly 4-5 loses cost us some vital points. But we have won the last 5 matches well, and players are playing well. Keep our focus and we could have a good challenge by end of season.
