Match report v Royal Oak (away)

Post date: Feb 18, 2009 12:40:20 PM

A game that was eagely awaited by both teams. Well maybe by the Harry more than the Oak ;) The facebook mind games and banter started days before.

With a good start to the 2nd half of the season, the Great Harry dogs were full of confidence and up for the challenge...

Mop got to the Oak early to assess the table, he produced a good break and dish in a warmup game to help continue the mind games ;)

Mark Hill at the table for the Oak. ;)

We thought we would get the tactical battle out the way early by pairing Pinkie up with Mark. 45 mins later it was finished with Mark sneaking past the winning line.

The games ebb and flowed back and forth after this. Neither team really showing that much good form and most games were slow drawn out affairs. It ended 3-3 after singles with Mop/Wobbly and Glen winning their singles for the Dogs

Out came the food, which included a nice prawn ring :)

Doubles next and not normally Great Harry's expertise. But with neither teams players on form, each doubles game was basically who could fall over the finishing line first. With more bad shots played than good!

Somehow the Harry team managed to secure the 2 wins required, and were also gifted the last doubles game (with a very bad black miss by John from Oak) to make a good 6-3 win!

Result: 6-3 A good scoreline versus last years champions. Not a good performance but i think our momentum took us through. Have we destroyed the Oaks league ambitions?? Does the Harry still have an outside chance?? Do we play better with prawn rings?? All to be decided in the next 5 games...

Shot of the night: Not many good ones played tbh! A good long red by Glen stands out, but the bad miss next shot summed the night up!!
