Match report v Halway House (home)

Post date: Jan 29, 2014 3:48:25 PM

It was time for runaway leaders to come and pay us a visit.

Away game was a close affair which we thought we didn't have the run of the balls. Run of the balls was a factor again but probably just swayed in our favour but close.

Mop up first for a change as Pinkie got bored of Ego head Mop winning in practice frames before match.. This was the first of 2 rematches from singles KO games of last week.

Mop v Marc. Was a little tactical, but not too bad. It worked its way open again and Mop had 2 shots to clear pretty simple finish. A careless shot on last yellow hit middle knuckle and went very nasty and Mop missed snooker escape. I owed a bit of luck to Marc from singles as he had none last week. Marc accepted it and cleared.

Heather v Pinkie. Heather was trying to control the pockets but he kept potting them, which forced his hand to go for game early. He got left on one ball which he got snookered on and then potted. But failed to get shot on black. Pinkie got 2 and cleared.

Blaster Steve up next v Seep. Similar story to previous frame. Seep blasted out and potted everything. But the black was always tied up, this stopped Seeps break and gave 2 shots away. Steve was clearing them well but opening a cluster of balls with a pot caused the black to go in. 2-1 Halfway.

Run of balls wasn't going great here. But little did we know it would change from now on.

Sherwood v Andy was an very open game which Sherwood likes. Sherwood took out the finish first.

Pete next v 'The Bear'. Pete was on form and potting well. But position was getting harder and harder on the break. Left a cut on the black that looked a certain in/off. It didn't stop Pete playing it. It was a certain in/off! 3-2

With Rat injured we only had 5. Bert said he wanted to play either of the losers. (Mop or Blaster). Bill chose Blaster. But Blaster did not put a foot wrong in the frame and beat inform Bert

4-2 up on singles.

Doubles and we were flying now. We were taking our chances as they were offered. Mop/Pinkie took first. A missed black by New boy Matt from Halfway was eagerly taken by 'The Bear'. And Sherwood took finish in last doubles.

Result: 7:2 v league leaders was what we needed! Gap of 9 points to top was cut to 2! With us winning the last 6 and the last 2 both with heavy 7-2 score lines v good opponents. If we can carry this on we should have a good challenge for title.
