Match Report v Valley Road Club

Post date: Apr 20, 2011 10:47:06 AM

We finally get to the play the only team we hadn't met yet this season. We missed our 1st half season trip to Valley Road due to 5 inches of snow falling on a tuesday November evening. This fixture is still to be arranged for when a tuesday becomes free for us both

Down to business and a close fought frame between Pinkie Power and Steve from the Valley (needs to be said in a welsh voice for full effect) , Pinkie got to black first but fouled when trying to get it out. Steve cleaered his colours using his 2 shots but failed to pot a close black. Leaving a tough long black which Pinkie potted well

Mop lost the white when trying to get the black out as well. Gooner didn't make his team-mates mistake and dispatched the game with his 2 shots.

Rocket lost to a very accomplished finish by Steve H. This wasnt going well.

OSW played the tactical game and awaited a slip up by Pat. This came and OSW finished the game with his 2 shots.

Luckily for us the Valley road run out of players to play now! With only being 4 they forfieted the last 2 singles. Shifting this close fought battle into a winning one for Erith D

4-2 up after singles

Doubles was the team finalists Pinkie/Mop. Mop got off to a potting start after a dry break, But a failed cover when he wanted to secure the tactical advantage meant with only 2 tucked balls left they were going to be fighting a losing battle. Pinkie had an opp to win with a tough double but it wasn't going to be.

Rocket/OSW secured the last doubles with a well taken tactical finish by Rocket

Last doubles was forfieted too.

Result 6-3 Win: If Valley Road had a full team i think this could of been a slip up for us. But we chalk up another win, the title is within grasping distance now.. 4 games to go and we need to keep focused...
