Match report v Pickwick

Post date: May 22, 2009 7:25:01 PM

We played host to league leaders Pickwick at the Harry. The table was a little off! at the start but a few tweeks and it was level! But it was still as quick as ever...

It was also a meeting of the Paul's at pool. Each side bringing 2 each to the battle!

Bad start with loses by Pinkie and Wobbly (Paul2 from Harry), meant it was an tough start to the first set for the Dogs. Mop and John then managed to bring it all square, leaving Glen to lose to a very good finish from Adam Everitt.

Set 2-3 to Pickwick

Second set the dogs started in fine form. John winning his second of the night and Rocket potting a good black while hampered by the wall.

2-0

Another loss from the out of form Pinkie as he played the in form Adam E

2-1

Mop(Paul1 from Harry) battled to the winning line only to throw it away with a terrible miss on an easy ball, but Paul Slater (Paul1 from Pickwick) pulled off a great full length black pot from the cushion to keep the set alive.

2-2. Glen on last again, this time he would not be denied, and led the dogs over the finish line in the second set. Set 3-2 Dogs

The night was now at 1-1 and 5-5 frames! Pretty tight.

Big game next, both teams in form players of Rocket and Adam were matched. Rocket controlled a pocket and the game. But a bad miss on the black (not like the Rocket of late ) let Adam back in, and he finished a tough clearence to take the frame for Pickwick.

Another loss from Pinkie this time potting the black early! and Johns first loss of the night in a tight game v Paul S (Paul1 Pickwick)

0-3 Pickwick set and night lost...

One Season Wonder Glen pulled out another win (could he be called a Two Season Wonder??).

In the last frame Mop (Paul1 Harry) lost to a good finish from Gafa (Paul2 Pickwick)

Result: 1:2 9:6 frames. A close battle and the end of a tough first 4 games in the league. Hopefullly we will get up some momentum and experience before our return match at "The Academy of Pool"

Player of the night: Adam Everitt was in fine fettle taking a clean sweep (3 wins)

Shot(s) of the night: (Paul Slater (Paul 1 Pickwick) with 2 great blacks from very tough positions
