Jalapeno Cheeseburgers with Bacon and Grilled Onion
What you need:
Glaze:
- 1/3 cup light corn syrup
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. ketchup
- 1 tsp. instant coffee granules
- 2 tsp. brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. butter
Burgers:
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. jalapeno, seeded and chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne
- Sliced Vermont sharp white cheddar cheese
- Onion, sliced in rings and grilled
- Bacon, cooked
- Hamburger buns, toasted, if you like
- Lettuce or spinach
- Additional toppings and condiments
Directions:
- Mix together ground beef, onion, parsley, Worcestershire, jalapeno, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Cover and chill for an hour or so. Form into eight patties.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix together corn syrup, Worcestershire, ketchup, coffee granules, and brown sugar until coffee dissolves. Whisk in butter and season with salt and pepper to taste. *If desired, set aside some sauce for serving with burgers.
- Preheat your grill or skillet. Grill burgers basting with glaze. Flip and baste again. Cook until done. Add cheese and let it melt before removing from grill.
- Serve burgers with lettuce/spinach, bacon, onion, and any additional toppings and condiments.
