This essay examines this question in terms of the Chemical elements, Atomic Particles, Waves, Genes, Weights and Consciousness that compose the human being.

Consciousness.
The Human has evolved from protists to chordata to vertebrates to fishes, to amphibians, to reptiles, to mammals, to supra-primates, to proto-primates, to higher primates, to great apes, to hominids, to homo and into humans.
The older evolutionary stages are retained and overlaid.
The archaic senses are overlaid with new senses.
The archaic brain levels are overlaid by protective, imprisoning, controlling layers of experience.
The fight, freeze, flight responses are protected by self-preservation, then by simple reasoning, then by abstract thought and reasoning.
Conclusions
Humans are formed from elements created by the death of another area of life potential in the universe through the explosion of a star as a supernova.
Humans are gas life forms. They are mostly composed of Oxygen.
An Oxygen dominated atmosphere allowed the evolution of more active, moving, multi-environment, life forms.
Oxygen added movement potential to humans and so allowed them to colonize the whole Earth.
The movement potential is currently indicated in the high percentage of the human body related to muscles that utilize oxygen through blood circulation to function.
Oxygen can be linked to human muscle formation, movement, senses, cognition, brain development and intelligence.
Nitrogen is used by humans to create a symbiotic ammonia, nitrate, protein, excretion, bacteria ammonia cycle.
Long chains of carbon compounds are the structural basis for the human being.
Hydrogen is used by humans; with Oxygen as water; to construct its body parts and to replenish them.
Hydrogen allows humans to shift the chemistry of their body from acidic to alkaline to neutral.
The human being is a scavenger life form based primarily on inorganic chemistry. It exists in a chemical bacterial symbiosis. It feeds on the decay in its immediate habitat to survive and produce organic symbiotic forms of intelligent, mobile, oxygen, carbon based, life
Humans in terms of atomic particles, waves of energy, are a focus of quantum entangled interaction of mass into energy and into mass in the universe.
In comparison to the proton occurrence in the universe the number of protons occurring in a human being is so enormous as to be extraordinary.
The situation is made even odder when the number of electrons and neutrons in a human are added to the proton number and compared to the universe.
If however the atoms, protons, neutrons and electrons are not considered as particles but as waves then the universe and the humans are all within a sea of overlapping frequencies and wavelengths of energy.
The human is therefore a quantum entangled, moving, focus, of electromagnetic energy within the universal ‘sea’ of energy.
A human being is a mobile, genetic reproductive code algorithm that replicates by sexual reproduction with its own species and also through symbiotic relationships with chemical elements, bacteria, life forms, the Earth and the Sun.
The ordering by weight suggest that the primary design requirements of humans are to move, survive the environment in terms of overall stability, provide temperature control, enclose itself and provide an internal and external sensing habitat for 100 trillion bacteria, viruses and cells.
The human is an overlay of archaic environmental and neuron experience.
It is layers of evolutionary algorithms of genetic, symbiotic, data.
It is constantly reviewing archaic environmental and neuron experience through its senses to exist.
The human scavenges resources and knowledge and adapts the debris of these forays from the environment of the planet and its own neuron networks of experience to survive and improve its senses.
Each Human has initially no knowledge, no mind, no self, no consciousness, no gods, no fixed beliefs, no morals, no opinions. It is forced to live and breathe by the choice of its parents and evolutionary chemistry. It is taught to drink and to eat. It is a mindless animal conditioned by the environment its senses and its tribe of humanity to exist as the tribe requires until it reproduces more tribal members and dies.
