The Self Deception
Form.
What is the Self. ?
It is defined through the study of ‘that which appears’, that which is sensed.
It is the human definer of the experience of existence.
It can be pointed at by an individual through the gesture of the inward pointing finger onto the chest and the use of the sound, the language, ‘Me’
Past.
The word ‘Me’ in its oldest Sumerian form relates to the decrees of the Gods handed out to mankind.
The ‘Me’ is a prophecy, a calendar, a record of the repeating of the environment handed down by the more experienced humans to the next generation of humans who initially think themselves inadequate to the task of survival and so invent Gods.
In identifying it the human being identifies their own repetitive condition as part of the environment and so survives long enough to pass on this knowledge through signs and language.
Present.
In our time we can define Humans as energy forming chemical reactions that act in a re-agency with the environment until their energy levels deplete and their reaction ability subsides and they become energy again. This is not metaphysics. It is a description of our knowledge expressed through our more complex language gained through the establishing of scientific laws of the natural translation of energy through into atomic structure and into molecular reaction of elements to matter and then through decay of that matter back into energy.
The pointing out, the prophesying of the continuation of this energy, matter, energy process we still know as the gesture of a human hand inward to itself and the word of acknowledgement ‘Me’.
Future
The uncertain, subatomic, architecture of the universe also defines the human ‘Self’.
All matter reconstitutes itself.
Human being are not fixed. They evolve through replacement of their atomic and subatomic components.
‘Indeed, it has been shown that in a year approximately 98 percent of the atoms in us now will be replaced by other atoms that we take in in our air, food, and drink.’

Therefore a single human being is reformed over a single year into a new human being.
The human has no continuous memory or experiences.
Each human requires constant sensory input to be able to survive in the universe.
A human being is not definable as an ‘it’, a named object.
It is not applicable as a language term to a human being since it is a randomly reconstituted conglomerate.
It changes.
It has no way of forming a ‘Self’ or containing a ‘Self’ within its shifting energy form.
A Definition
The ‘Self’ is a shorthand, archaic, acknowledgement, by humans, through language, of the energy, matter, energy reaction and re-agency of their reaction with the environment.
It is a constantly evolving reaction.
It is a genetic and an experienced sensory input.
It is a sound, a word, a language, a sensory output.
It comes from a rationalization of sensory input from the environment.
It is environment reacting with environment.
The ongoing sensory output, through sound, word, language of the self experience, the whole human knowledge is an enhancement of the original energy, matter, energy reaction and its re-agency in an original ancient moment of time.
A single connection in a pool of amino acids leading to a sound a word a sentence.
A genetic knowledge increasing in complexity through experience to improve its reactive potential.
Past Present and Future.
There is no unconnected self.
There are no unconnected self identities.
There are no unconnected individuals.
There are no unconnected languages.
There are no unconnected individual dialogues.
There has, is, will be, only a single ongoing reaction, a single interaction, a genetic knowledge increasing in complexity through experience.
A sensory input, a rationalization, a sensory output then a response.
A single human sentence that has lasted for 4,600,000,000 years.
