Course Overview and Materials
This summer school course has 6 units of study. It is an intense, demanding, and rigorous course as outlined by Alberta Education. Expect to be working on the course 5 to 7 hours each day for the month of July. Vacations or full-time jobs should not be taken during this time.
Nationalism defined! In this course, you’ll explore the complexities of nationalism in Canadian and international contexts, including the origins of nationalism and the influence of nationalism on regional, international, and global relations. You’ll consider a variety of perspectives as you consider how nationalism contributes to the citizenship and identities of peoples in Canada.
This is the second course in the stream for students with an interest in and aptitude for Social Studies.
*The course includes a number of timed and Proctorio supervised assessments, including a course final exam, that require students to have a working webcam and microphone, along with a table or desk where they can complete their work.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 65% in Social Studies 10-1 or a minimum of 60% in Social Studies 20-2.
