Course Overview and Materials
In this pre-calculus course, you’ll gain the mathematical knowledge and critical thinking skills appropriate for entry into post-secondary programs that are math-intensive and require the study of calculus. Topics of study include trigonometry, transformations, logarithms, function operations, permutations, combinations, and binomial theorem.
The course material is sectioned into 6 units. Each unit contains assignments as well as several practice quizzes. There are 4 supervised tests (Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3/4 and Unit 5/6) and a supervised Final Exam. Students must complete the Final Exam to earn credit for this course.
Although this is an asynchronous course, we have intentional pacing and there are consequences should a student fall too far behind.
Both the course mark and diploma exam mark are required for an official mark to appear on your transcript.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 65% in Mathematics 20-1 or a minimum of 75% in Mathematics 30-2.
Approved graphing calculator (TI-84 recommended), AB Education approved list of calculators (see p.2)
External webcam that can be placed to show a student's hands, papers, calculator and upper body during supervised tests
