Course Overview and Materials
Engaging in society! In this course, you’ll explore what it means to be a citizen of your community, your province, and your country. You’ll also consider a variety of perspectives as you explore the impact of globalization on identity, lands, cultures, economies, human rights, and quality of life. This is the first course in the stream for students with an interest in and aptitude for Social Studies. The course requires students to use Proctorio for some assignments, unit review quizzes, and the Midterm and Final Exams. Students require a webcam and a microphone, as well as a table or desk at which they can complete their work, for the Proctorio assessments.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 65% in the prerequisite course. If a student has not taken the prerequisite course, they are still responsible for ensuring they have the prerequisite knowledge. This course content assumes that a student has learned the topics covered in the prerequisite course. Prerequisite topics are not re-taught in this course.
