Course Overview and Materials
Welcome to high school math! This is an introductory course preparing students to enter the -1 and -2 sequences of high school mathematics. Topics you’ll study include measurement, surface area and volume, trigonometry, exponents and radicals, relations and functions, equations and graphs of linear functions, and systems of linear equations.
The course material is sectioned into 8 units. Each unit contains lessons assignments and a practice unit quiz. There are 4 supervised tests (Unit 1/2, Unit 3/4, Unit 5/6, and Unit 7/8) and a supervised Final Exam. Students must complete the Final Exam to earn credit for this course.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS recommends a minimum grade of 65% in Math 9 or a minimum grade of 65% in Math 15. If a student has not taken the prerequisite course, they are still responsible for ensuring they have the prerequisite knowledge. This course content assumes that a student has learned the topics covered in the prerequisite course. Prerequisite topics are not re-taught in this course.
