Course Overview and Materials
All about growing up! Health 7 involves getting to know your own habits, behaviours, interactions, and decision-making skills related to your health, your well-being, and your future. You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes that might help you understand yourself better, relate to others better, and improve your ability to make informed decisions. In this course, students will consider the larger world and their place in it as they explore the following topics:
Career opportunities and life roles
Interpersonal skills
Promoting safety for self and others
Students may also choose to complete Module 7: Human Sexuality, providing they obtain parental permission. In the Human Sexuality module, students will examine the human reproductive process and explore misunderstandings associated with sexual development. They’ll also identify the effects of social influences on sexuality and gender roles and equality and examine possible influences on personal decision-making regarding responsible sexual behavior. Abstinence and the postponement of sexual activity will be examined as healthy choices.
