Course Description
This is an academic English Language Arts (ELA) course, consisting of assignments and quizzes of varying length and type. It is designed for students who are planning to attend post-secondary immediately from High School in the future. Students taking this course will gain a full appreciation of the skills of reading and writing, learn to use language confidently in various situations, and discover the significance and artistry of literature. Texts for the course include short stories, poetry, non-fiction, a modern play, a Shakespearean play excerpt, and a novel. Students will also be required to watch a film.
*This course includes a remotely supervised Midterm Exam and Final Exam. Proctorio is required for these supervised exams. A webcam and microphone are required to complete Proctorio assessments. Also, students are not permitted to use Artificial Intelligence tools in any capacity in this course, including extensions such as Grammarly.
