Course Overview
Students undertake an in-depth journey through the world of visual communication, with the creation of 2-D and 3-D images, using various media and processes, and the examination of the role of art in past and present societies, including a variety of art movements in different art forms. This assists students to increase their artistic competence, sophistication, and complexity, as well as to develop creative thinking, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Â
The 5-credit Art 10 course includes Various Drawings, Colour Theory Painting, Collage, Negative-Positive Space Composition, Calligraphy and Posters, Weaving, Cartooning, Surrealism and Mixed Media, Analysing Art, Portrait Painting, Golden Section Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Landscape Painting, and Form and Function.
Required Materials (not provided by VVS): Students are required to have access to the following basic art supplies:
several sheets of large white drawing paper (at least 20)
set of watercolour and acrylic paints
painting brushes of several sizes
variety of pencils of various softness of leads such as 2B, 4B, 6B, etc
package of coloured pencil crayons and wax crayons
basic geometry set including a ruler and eraser
ink pens (one with calligraphic tip)
