French 10 - 3Y

Course Overview

Bonjour! If you’ve always wanted to study French, here’s your chance! FSL 10-3Y is the beginner course in the three-year French as a second language program. In this course, you’ll focus on the four basic communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. By the end of this course, you should be able to communicate in basic, everyday French using complete sentences about a variety of topics, such as school, family, and free time.

Our French courses use two websites: Moodle and Vista Higher Learning (VHL). Lessons will include video tutorials or interactive activities followed by written or spoken assessments. There is a supervised midterm and final exam in this course.

In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS recommends a minimum of 65% in Language Arts 9. No previous knowledge of the French language is necessary. If you have previous French language experience and are interested in starting at a higher level, you may contact us to request a placement exercise.
