Social 30-1 is a challenging course as defined by Alberta Education. This course has 8 units of study. Students can expect to be working a minimum of 1-2 hours each day in this paced course. This means that there are due dates to follow and assessments close once the due date passes.
*The course includes a number of timed Proctorio supervised assessments that require students to have a working webcam and microphone, along with a table or desk where they can complete their work. It is your responsibility to have the required technology to use our remote supervision software.
A textbook, Perspectives on Ideology, is required and must be ordered from Vista Virtual at the time of registration. It is needed for one of the first assessments. No online textbooks are acceptable, as you require a hard copy of the textbook to write the Proctorio assessments.
AI use is considered plagiarism and will not be tolerated. There are a variety of AI detection tools in the course which flag the teacher of plagiarism.
Students must write both the supervised midterm and final exam as well as a diploma exam. Both the course mark and diploma exam mark are required for a final mark to appear on your transcript. It is up to the student to register for the diploma exam.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 60% in the prerequisite course.
