Equine 1
Course Overview
Learn about the fundamental aspects of equine care in Equine 1, written by the Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and offered through Vista Virtual School. There are 6 modules of study:
Responsible Care
Anatomy & Breed
Environmental Influences
Horse Health
Nutrition and Feeding practices
Handling and Transport
Each student will complete module quizzes and hands-on and theory practice. At the end of the course, there is a final project and a practical skills assessment.
Please note: To register for this course you must have:
completed Agriculture Safety (AGR3000) as a prerequisite course
at least 50 hours of previous experience in horse handling and horse care
access to a horse and supervisor such as a trainer or barn manager
