Course Overview and Materials
This course is designed to provide students with the skills needed to progress into Math 30-1, who will then be entering post-secondary studies in engineering or other science related programs. Topics you’ll study include quadratic functions and equations, radicals, trigonometry, sequences and series, rational expressions and equations, absolute value and reciprocal functions, and equations and inequalities.
The course material is sectioned into 7 units. Each unit contains practice quizzes and a unit assignment. There are 4 supervised tests (Unit 1/2, Unit 3/4, Unit 5/6, and Unit 7) and a supervised Final Exam. Students must complete the Final Exam to earn credit for this course.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS recommends a minimum of 65% in Math 10C or a minimum of 70% in Math 20-2 or a minimum of 60% in Math 30-2. If a student has not taken the prerequisite course, they are still responsible for ensuring they have the prerequisite knowledge. This course content assumes that a student has learned the topics covered in the prerequisite course. Prerequisite topics are not re-taught in this course.
