Mathematics 20-3

In this course, you’ll gain the mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills appropriate for entry into the majority of trades or direct entry into the workforce. Topics include personal finances, trigonometry, algebra, measurement, scale and representing 3D objects visually. There is one supervised exam.  In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 50% in Mathematics 10-3 or 40% in Mathematics 10C. Only one prerequisite is required.

Due to the short time frame of summer session, expect to be working on the course 5 to 7 hours each day for the month of July. Vacations or full-time jobs should not be taken during this time.

*To write the final exam students must have a computer or laptop with a microphone and a webcam. An external webcam on a stand is preferred as the camera view must show a student from their hands to their head at all times during the assessment. 

The final exam must be written in order to receive credit for the course. 

Each chapter has one chapter assignment for marks.

• Chapter 1  - Budgets: July 9

• Chapter 2 - Banking: July 11

• Chapter 3 - Interest: July 14

• Chapter 4 - Sales Promotions, Credit Cards & Loans: July 16

• Chapter 5 - Surface Area of Prisms, Pyramids, Cylinders & Cones: July 18

• Chapter 6 - Surface Area of Spheres & Estimating: July 21

• Chapter 7 - Volume & Capacity of Prisms & Cylinders : July 23

• Chapter 8 - Volume & Capacity of Cones, Pyramids & Spheres, : July 25

There are no exemptions or extensions to the assignment closing deadlines.
