Get a grip on math! In this course, you’ll gain the mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills appropriate for entry into post-secondary programs that do not require the study of calculus. Topics you’ll study include radicals, quadratic functions, logic and reasoning, geometry and proportional reasoning.
This summer Math 20-2 course is sectioned into 5 units. Each unit consists of an assignment that is for marks, as well as optional lesson practice quizzes and a mandatory unit practice quiz. Both types of practice quizzes do not count towards the overall mark.
In addition to unit assignments and practice quizzes, this course contains four supervised assessments (Unit 1/2 Test, Unit 3/4 Test, Unit 5 Test and the Final Exam)*.
Math 20-2 units (along with the assignment closing deadlines of 3 pm MDT) include:
Unit 1: Radicals - July 7
Unit 2: Quadratic Functions & Equations - July 14
Unit 3: Logic & Reasoning - July 16
Unit 4: Geometry - July 22
Unit 5: Proportional Reasoning - July 25
There are no exemptions or extensions to the assignment closing deadlines.
Due to the short time frame of summer session, expect to be working on the course 5 to 7 hours each day for the month of July. Vacations or full-time jobs should not be taken during this time.
The Final Exam must be written in order to receive credit for the course.
*Tests and exams are supervised using remote proctoring software called Proctorio. To write a Proctorio supervised assessment, students must have a computer or laptop with a microphone and a webcam. An external webcam on a stand is preferred as the camera view must show a student from their hands to their head at all times during the assessment.
