Course Overview and Materials
This summer school course has 5 units of study, consisting of assignments and quizzes of varying length and type. It is an intense, demanding, and rigorous course as outlined by Alberta Education. Expect to be working on the course 5 to 7 hours each day for the month of July. Vacations or full-time jobs should not be taken during this time.
This is the non-academic English Language Arts course. It is designed for students with a mark in English Language Arts 9 below 65%. Focus will be placed on basic communication skills through the study of short stories, non-fiction, poetry, a feature film, and a novel. This course is recommended for students interested in pursuing post-secondary programs that do not have a primary focus in English.
*This course includes supervised assignments and quizzes. Proctorio is required for these supervised assessments. A webcam and microphone are required to complete Proctorio assessments.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 50% in the prerequisite course.
